golf equipment forums

As those who play the game will understand, getting the right golf equipment is crucial to success in the game. The phrase ‘a poor workman blames his tools’ is a contentious one in the game of golf – poor tools really can break your game. In this article I take a look at where to find the best deals on golf equipment, helping you to ensure you get the equipment you need to succeed at a price you can afford.

Forget traipsing around your local shops trying to find quality golf equipment in cheap high street sports shops – it isn’t going to happen. They simply don’t have the knowledge or the niche buying power that is going to present you with a good deal. Don’t expect to get anywhere with anything purchased here, except maybe winning a pitch and putt competition against your non-golfing mates. And even that’s a push.

If you’re serious about your game then specialist golf retailers are the way to go. This could mean going to your local club and taking a look around the shop – if you can afford premium prices. If not, then you need to find yourself the internet (very popular nowadays, I’ve heard) and get yourself onto a golf retail site. You’ll be amazed at the range of golf equipment, the brands and most of all, the prices. You can pick something up – well actually, get it sent to your house – for a fraction of the price that those down at the local golf club expect you to pay. Plus, you aren’t expected to go to them to get it!

Online golf is the future. I’ve seen it. Not only can you get all the best golf equipment, but you can also pick up great tips about how to use it, plus all sorts of information about the latest trends. For example, you can find out what equipment Tiger Woods is experimenting with to improve his game or if there’s a latest bit of kit that everyone’s shouting about. There’s forums allowing you talk to others and get advice about your technique and even video demonstrations so that you can ensure what you’re doing is right.

All of this makes me worry about whether Golfers are actually going to stop bothering to go out and play the game as all the great stuff out there in cyberspace is a bit addictive! Plus all my teaching tips are being giving away, so I might be soon out of a job. But I won’t care as I will be spending all my new-found free time surfing around on the internet looking at all the quality bargain golf equipment!

As you are looking for a golf bag, equipment manufacturers will place golf bags or a shopping bag or a golf bag standing category.

Usually made of leather or other durable products, a shopping bag is much bigger and heavier than a golf bag stand. Shopping bags are designed primarily for mounting in any type of golf cart as a cart to push, pull, or a cart of regular gas or electric golf carts. Many people think that these bags are strictly for show however, the selection and dragging his golf club golf bag before hitting his shot is much easier with the extra room in the bag.

Stand golf bags have changed dramatically in recent years with the kind of shape-change materials have been used in the past. Now you can find a golf bag stand as the shining light 2.5 pounds, with no equipment in it. The double shoulder strap belts also known as system makes carrying a golf bag with a lot easier for you and your back. The legs make it appear like a caddy is there that the holding bag and makes you throw a puppy of the stock much easier than when lying on the floor.

These high-tech pieces of equipment incorporates features perfect functionality, together with attractive designs. Feather light bags to help reduce player fatigue which in essence will help.

The whole process of bringing your clubs has become in simple and fun. Now they are beginning to see more women, juniors, and senior players carry their bags around the course. You can easily slide his clubs from his shoulders in a standing position in a smooth motion. The strength of lightweight materials is 10 times better than before entering the breathing capacity and resistance outdoors in each building.

The storage available in modern golf bags has also achieved much in terms of how much there is and how easy it is used. You do not have to fight to get the zippers to open, like in the old bags. These modern bags have special compartments for bottled water, GPS unit, cell phone, and even lock bags that can guarantee its value as your keys and jewelry.

golf and stuff

Now I’m confused about golf practice and just how much leads to better golf. More importantly, just how much is good for golf improvement? I’m confused because I keep getting contradictory advice from the books I’m reading, TV programs I’m viewing and the stuff I’m browsing on the web.

As a low handicap golfer for over 40 years, I’ve done a fair bit of work on the practice ground and had lots of golf lessons from lots of good coaches – some of the best in the world in their day. However, I know that much of the technical advice I received left me confused and inconsistent.

Since qualifying as a Hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner, I now know that much of that old advice led me to play golf almost completely in my conscious mind. And that’s about as far from being in the zone as you can get! A bit like having a driving instructor sitting next to you for the rest of your life, reminding you exactly what to do – when to indicate, change gear, look in the mirror, etc.

So what’s confused me now – I read about Muhammad Ali

Well, for starters, here I am reading an article about Muhammad Ali and in between saying, “I am the Greatest”, he slips in this very sincere quote:

“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last- minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” Muhammad Ali

Now I have to agree with this as when Ali talks about being in the ring, it’s clear that he was in an extremely altered state. I cant remember the exact quote, but one of my favourite recollections was of him talking about how he felt like he was watching his own fights from above each of the four corners of the ring and it was like he could “see” his opponents back muscles move long before any signs from the front that punch was on its way. After that, “float like a butterfly and sting like a bee” seemed quite mundane.

Then what happened – I read about Tiger’s Practice Routine

A short while later, I’m reading about how Hank Haney told viewers on the Golf Channel about a typical golf practice day for one of his pupils. Yes, you’ve guessed it he’s talking about Tiger Woods. Now according to Haney, here’s Tiger’s schedule.

06:00-07:30 Lifting weights in the Gym

07:30-09:00 Breakfast

09:00-11:00 Hitting balls on the range

11:00-11:30 Putting practice

11:30-12:30 Playing 9 holes of golf

12:30-13:00 Lunch

13:00-15:00 Hitting more balls on the range

15:00-16:00 Working on his short game

16:00-17:00 Play another 9 holes of golf

17:00-17:30 Hitting yet more balls on the range

17:30-18:00 More putting practice

So when does Tiger he do all his work with Jay Brunza, his Golf Psychologist? I suspect he’s there with Tiger when he’s practicing. And I bet he’s helping him to build his unconscious resources at the same time. Why didn’t somebody tell me about all this golf psychology stuff 40 years ago?

What do I think about Practice?

I’m going into this in a lot of detail in my forthcoming book, “The Secrets of Hypnotic Golf.” For now, I can say that I’ve come down on the side of “Better Golf Without Practice.” Alex Morrison published a book with that title in 1940 and its messages are still true today.

So who’s Alex Morrison? Well, he was rated as the greatest golf teacher of his day by far and had his own golf school in New York. He coached many great golfers like Henry Picard, 26-time winner on the PGA Tour and winner of the Masters in 1938 and The PGA Championships in 1939. He also taught many famous celebrities, including Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Are any of you old enough to have seen Bing’s wonderfully smooth and slow swing? It was effortless right through to his death, playing golf at the age of 73.

Oh yes, there’s one other important link between Alex Morrison and my world of golf in the mind – perhaps his greatest contribution to golf. He coached a certain Charlie Nicklaus, father of golfing legend Jack Nicklaus…

Does anyone know a good software for golf scores, etc?

My mother is an avid golfer and has been looking for a good program to keep track of disability and games. Does anyone know of a good in the UK (not sure if other countries score differently)?

golfscoretracker.co.uk costs 5 pounds per year and has literally thousands of courses. You can keep track of his GIR, FIR, putts, ability to raise and lower a pair of Sandtrap. It is the quality and the first 30 days are free.

First of all there is no secret about how you win a handicap golf tournament. You win because you have the lowest Net score. The Net score is your Real score minus your Handicap Index. The USGA handicap system allows players with different skill levels to be able to compete with each other. It is the fairest way get two players to a level playing field. The system is not perfect. Mainly because your handicap is a mathematical formula that takes and averages your last 10 best scores. If you as a player can turn in one of your better than average rounds of golf you stand a better than average chance to win the tournament.

This is my winning strategy. Try to play a round of golf equal to or better than your average score for your last 10 best rounds. You should know what this score is before playing in the tournament. If you can post this score or better you have a good chance of winning the tournament. I know that I may have over-simplified this winning strategy. But, If you just follow my suggestions you may just find yourself in the winners circle at the completion of your golf tournament.

It is a fact that the average scores for golf tournaments are usually higher than a normal round of golf. This is a good indication that most players put more pressure on themselves during tournaments.

The better player understands this phenomenon and adopts the following philosophy – Take What the Golf Course will Give You on any Hole. This means that if you make a mistake on a hole don’t turn that mistake into a disaster. Accept a bogey or even a double bogey as the best that you can do on that hole. Don’t try to make an impossible shot in an effort to save par. Most of the time this only compounds the mistake and creates a disaster hole. If you do this just once in the tournament you could loose the tournament. Do it twice and you will definitely loose the tournament.

In my opinion, this strategy may be the difference between winning or loosing the tournament. When you play conservative golf you are more likely to score at or below the average of your last 10 best golf scores. Just remember that your competitors scores are likely to be higher than normal because of tournament pressure.

This is a very simple strategy and ironically most players never use this approach during tournament play. Everyone thinks they have to play their career best round in order to win.

Most of the time this just isn’t the case. Although, if someone does shoot a career best round you haven’t a chance to win that tournament.

I based this strategy on the experience of playing quite a few years as a member of the Northern Illinois Mens Amateur Golf Association. NIMAGA hosted handicap golf tournaments monthly during the golf season. A high percentage of the over 500 regular members never in their life time win a tournament. I was fortunate to have won 4 times, tied and lost in a playoff 4 times, and finished in second place numerous times. Although not foolproof, I can attest first hand that without adopting my tournament strategy I wouldn’t have won a single tournament.

Here is my challenge to you. Eliminate triple-bogeys or worse from your tournament and see if you can break through into the winners circle.

golf equipment ratings and reviews

March 27th, 2007 admin No comments

Junior golf equipment ratings are important for a number of reasons. Not only do they allow other consumers to understand how the equipment works and is perceived, but this is also a great way for the golf equipment company to look at the ways in which their items are tested and graded. This is beneficial for the company because it objectively notifies them as to whether or not there is any great flaws about the items that they manufacturer. If there is a problem with the equipment, the manufacturer has the option of re-designing the equipment in order to make it easier to use or more effectively rated. There are two main groups that will produce junior golf equipment ratings.

Those who take part in the public sphere will be speaking to the world at large. Typically these junior golf equipment ratings and reviews will be published in golf equipment magazines and the like, where individuals will be interested in specific tests and grades that are given to the materials. For others who are interested in one specifics interpretation of junior golf equipment ratings and reviews, the internet might be a better option to consider from which to get information.

The internet is a great resource for the individuals that choose to use it. However, the individuals that use it in order to post junior golf equipment ratings and reviews are not likely those that do these things professionally. Instead, they test items in their day to day life and will be able to accurately comment on how the items stand up in these types of conditions. By being able to offer these types of junior golf equipment ratings, interested individuals can read about the items in real life scenarios, instead of reading about them in some tests that are being performed in a magazine, which may not be able to accurately review the items in a way that would benefit the common consumer.

When it comes to junior golf equipment ratings, many people give more credit to the rating tests that are done by corporations or companies. For the most part, this is because these individuals are more accurately aware of the tests that will matter and truly test the strengths and weaknesses of the equipment, regardless of whether or not these limits will be tested to such a degree in the day to day activities involving the items. Additionally, personal reviews are typically just from the perspective of one person. In many cases, the corporate ratings and reviews that are done have been created in an objective field. This helps to eliminate the interference that might inhibit the ratings and reviews when it comes to implementing personal preference and desire. If one person likes a specific company for personal reasons, that is fine. But this type of subjective reasoning will not help the majority of consumers.

Most people want to know the facts about an item, not the opinions. Junior golf equipment ratings are very important, and depending on the source they have the potential to benefit a large number of individuals that are interested in the game and the necessary equipment.
