golf practice net cage

June 29th, 2007 admin No comments

Set up your own driving range right at your house with a golf practice net that will allow you to work on your golf game without going to the driving range. Today, there are many options of portable golf nets that you can use at your home and we will give you information on three nets from Izzo.

The Big Mouth by Izzo

Utilizing a fiberglass hoop frame, the Big Mouth golf practice net from Izzo eliminates the hassle of setting up frame poles and clipping net hangers. Simply toss The big Mouth golf practice net where you want it and the net will automatically spring to life. From there, it is up to you on how fast you can place a tee in the ground and start practicing.

Closed, the Big Mouth is a thirty-six inch flat disk that only weighs about fifteen pounds and stores practically anywhere. The Big Mouth expands from a three-foot disk to a seven by nine foot golf net what will feel faster than you can get away the first few times.

Another feature of the Big Mouth is the introduction of woven netting. This “knotless” technology allows the mesh to stretch and absorb the ball’s force resulting in a net that is thirty percent stronger. In addition you will have an adjustable chipping net that hangs in the middle of the Big Mouth’s frame. The chipping net is suspended on four sides by adjustable chords which allow you to set the position of the chipping net to work on high lob shots or low bump and run shots.

The Super Cage Mouth Net

The Super Cage Mouth Net is a premium practice net and will allow you to improve your golf game at home or take it to your in-laws to give you something to do while you are there! The Super Cage Mouth Net has a patented pop-up design from Izzo and is a premium practice net made of high durability nylon. It easily folds flat to 46-inches and can be used indoors or outside. Folding flat, The Super Cage Mouth Net can be stored easily when you are not using it as it. The Super Cage Mouth Net has a 10′ x 12′ Hitting Area.

The Izzo Golf Giant Mouth Net

The unique shape of the Izzo Golf Giant Mouth Net allows you to hit all of the clubs in your bag. Whether you need to work on your Driver, Fairway woods, Irons or Wedges, the Izzo Golf Giant Mouth Net has the room to allow you to work on any golf club in your golf bag. The Giant golf net is the perfect way to practice your swing without going to the range.

The premium mesh netting is engineered and tested to be the strongest in golf. This golf net comes with a nylon storage case that travels easily wherever you want to take it. Do not mess with confusing complicated driving nets, the Giant is quick and easy to setup as well as to take down.

golf handicap software

June 29th, 2007 admin No comments

I need suggestions for relatively cheap or free software to organize my golf league?

If I wanted to start my own golf league players resulting from amateur golf, what kind of software is out there that allows me to track players in the league, round results, disadvantages, etc? Thank you.

Golfsoftware.com I have been using for about 8 years, and well worth the cost. The best part you can order your print scorecards and disabled and strokes per hole. It also keeps track of submarines, skins and set specific and handicap points for their league.

golf gloves for arthritis

June 28th, 2007 admin No comments

Arthritis patients don’t need to stop playing golf. Golf can actually be a physical remedy because it increases ones range of motion as well as adding mobility and power to ones body.

A great deal of medical research has shown that exercise is one of the most suitable treatments for osteoarthritis. Exercise has effects such as reducing pain, improving blood flow and heart rhythm as well as increasing ones flexibility, preserving weight and improving ones outlook and mood. Finally, it ensures good physical fitness.

Osteoarthritis, which is the most frequent form of arthritis, takes a while to set. Exercise of physical activity brings about pain in the early stages of the disease. This is usually evident on the spines, hands and knees as well as the hips. These are all body parts used when playing golf.

Golf is an especially good exercise for osteoarthritis patients. It involves long walks which are healthy. It also has the effect of increasing ones range of motion as well as balance.

However, the key to making golf slightly easier on joints is the use of special products designed to help those who suffer from osteoarthritis.

The Arthritis Foundation shares a number of suggestions for golfers. Some of these are available at arthritis.org. Some tips and products that may be beneficial are listed.

An example is the use of gloves and wrist braces. These ensure the joints in your hands and wrists are stabilized. These items can be purchased cheaply.

Low compression balls can also be used. For additional comfort, one could wear shoes that lack spikes. New items are constantly being innovated and one can find out about them from their respective local golf specialist. They can provide tips about new products that can make golfing easier on joints.

Prior to playing a round of golf one should perform a warm up. This can involve a few practice swings as well as some simple stretches. Begin by taking swings at half strength. All golfers including those with arthritis should avoid trying to hit the ball hard. Control and accuracy are more important than mere power. One should consume water when playing a round of golf. Tees also help ones game.

When ones body feels exhausted, take a short rest. The objective is to take pleasure in playing the game therefore it is not necessary to finish all eighteen holes.

If you experience aches after playing try doing some simple stretches. Place ice packs on the sore places and if possible take a warm bath. The aching joints should also be rested for a while. If magnetic therapy is available, one can also try it. Finally, a lot of weight place on your hips and knees can cause some pain. It is therefore recommended to rest with your weight down.

Should one experience pain for more than an hour after playing golf, then it is excessive. A doctor or physical therapist should be consulted to make adjustments to ones game when some of the following signs are evident. If you feel increasingly weak or experience persistent fatigue as well as swelling in the joints and a low range of motion, then golf may be excessive exercise. Furthermore, if you experience pain that persists for over an hour, a change in the way one plays must be made.

Playing golf together with a warm up might be a strong recommendation from a doctor to help with arthritis.

golf week rochester

As summertime hits the Rochester area, residents and visitors start exploring the outdoors, looking for ideas to offer excitement and entertainment. In the month of June, these people do not have to look very hard, as a week-long celebration in the second half of the month transforms the city. Rochesterfest is a citywide celebration of Rochester. Over 40 local businesses and organizations make the community event possible by sponsoring countless activities that offer entertainment and fun.

In 2008, Rochesterfest celebrated its 26th year of existence. The annual event brings with it a variety of food vendors, concerts, and family activities. Although the schedule varies somewhat each year, there are a number of favorite events that occur almost every time:

- Food Vendors: Civic Center Drive in downtown Rochester is closed for the week as food vendors from throughout the area come and set up shop. The event is both a popular lunchtime and dinner hangout during the week. Noontime and evening entertainment is provided as well.

- Annual Midwestern Lumberjack Championships: One of the most popular events of the week, contenders from around the world arrive to compete in various lumberjack events for cash prizes. 2008 marked the 13th year for the event.

- Oakwood Cemetery Walk: Although it may sound eerie, the cemetery walk involves taking a tour of the cemetery while learning about the people who are buried there. Actors stand by certain gravesites acting as the people in the graves, educating others about their lives.

- Teen Night: The youth of Rochester are not overlooked during Rochesterfest. A night of live bands, skateboarding, climbing, ultimate frisbee, and other events will provide teens with entertainment specifically aimed at them. Teenagers in Rochester notice this, and their attendance to this event shows how grateful they are.

- Theme Nights: In addition to Teen Night, other nights throughout the week are given other themes. One night is dedicated to Family Fun, offering beanbag toss, sack races, train rides, demonstrations by the Fire Department, and many other family events. Another popular event is Country Night, where people can enjoy country music and dancing throughout the evening. A night of dancing to a wider variety of music occurs another night of the week with the Street Dance.

- Home Federal Plane Pull for March of Dimes: At the Rochester International Airport, a game of tug’o'war with a 166,000 pound jet takes place. With a donation to the March of Dimes, 20 person teams compete in pulling a plane 12 feet in the fastest time.

- Country Breakfast on the Farm: 2008 marks the 21st year of the Country Breakfast on the Farm. Families head to a nearby farm bright and early to enjoy a pancake breakfast, horse drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo, and educational displays.

- Treasure Hunt: Sponsored by a local business, clues are released every day of the week leading treasure seekers to the prize. The person who successfully deciphers the clues and finds the treasure, a Rochesterfest medallion hidden somewhere in the city of Rochester on public property, will receive a cash prize. In 2008, the reward was five hundred dollars.

- Grand Parade: On Friday evening, the Grand Parade steps off with over 100 units. The event is traditionally put on by the Ambassadors from Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce.

- Mayor’s Cup Hot Air Balloon Race: Pilots come to Rochester with hot air balloons in tow to compete in this annual race. New in 2008, the pilots also now perform a moonglow, which inflating the balloons and dusk, creating a giant light bulb effect.

- A number of other events also occur during the week, including a co-ed Volleyball Tournament, Frisbee Dog Championships, A Million Dollar Hole-In-One Golf Shootout, a book sale sponsored by Friends of the Library, a water ski show, and an annual sandcastle making contest.

In order to make the most out of the week, the city offers Rochesterfest Buttons. For a small fee, the Button offers many great deals and discounts throughout the week of Rochesterfest, including cheaper admission to many of the events and discounts from a number of local businesses.

Rochesterfest is truly a great week in which the residents and visitors of Rochester come together to enjoy life. The daily and nightly events capture the attention of nearly the entire city, and offer people of any age the chance to enjoy themselves with an evening of excitement and entertainment.

golf shafts

golf shafts
Golf shafts?

I’m looking to buy a new driver, however, there is a ton of shafts to pick from. Aldila NV-65, Fujikura 64 Graphite, Graffaloy ProLaunch, Graphite Design YS-6 (and 7).

So, I know what the flex means, I know I need stiff, but what is the difference between all of these?

Assuming that what you really want to know is which shaft is best for you, I will attempt to asnwer that question.

There is basically 4 components to modern shafts:
1. flex
2. kickpoint
3. length
4. weight

Flex – as you noted, you already know that you need a stiff flex, so I won’t comment too much on that.

Kickpoint – this is probably the most important facor after flex. Contrary to what another poster said, this **will** affect your game. The kickpoint determines the trajectory of your ball flight. Golfdigest did an experiment where they custom fitted dozens of club champions with new shafts, and increased the average drive of these champions by 17 yards. The shaft matters. The basic rule is: If you tend to hit really high shots, then you want a shaft with a high kickpoint, which will launch the ball on a lower trajectory and give you more distance. If you have trouble getting the ball up in the air, you want a shaft with a low kickpoint, which will produce a higher ball flight.

Length – this is not that important unless you are extraordinarily short or tall and need a custom length. If you want exra distance, go for a longer shaft, but beware: it makes it much harder to control. Also, USGA rules only allow a driver to be a maximum of 48 inches long.

Weight – this can be important if you get a shaft that is too heavy. Pros tend to use heavier shafts because heavier shafts tend to make it harder to swing too fast. Most amateurs need slightly lighter than average shafts to help them swing the club fast enough. I was recently fitted, and moving to a lighter shaft weight increased my swing speed by 10mph (and I don’t really have a slow swing — 110mph on my driver).

Each of the models that you mentioned probably come in vaius weights, kick-points, flex and length. Once you find out what you need with regard to those four items, you can start narrowin your selections based on what each manufacturer offers. All the manufacturers make good shafts and you will find pros using all of them.

golf clubs sets for women
My mother would like a set of golf clubs, but the women’s sets are hard to find, could she use a men’s set? ?

My mother has never golfed, but would really like to learn, so she is very much a beginner and she is also very tall. I know one of the main differences between men’s and women’s sets are the length, and I think she would need a longer set anyways.

try senior mens set. easier to find, cheaper. more accessible than women’s sets. much cheaper higher quality. one day sports will get over their bigotry, macho image and admit that women are great natural athletes, not my lifetime. wish i could say so. wont happen. only golf watch is women’s. smile laugh. better interviews. try seniors clubs. your mom happy.

what is golf q school

June 26th, 2007 admin No comments

what is golf q school

There are many characteristics that a good golf pro school should have: It should use high-quality equipment, employ experienced instructors, and offer student support services such as post-graduation job placement. However, just because a golf pro school has all of these things does not mean it will be the best school for you. There are many other characteristics that don’t necessarily make a school good or bad, but could work for or against your own personal needs.

Obviously, not every golf student’s situation and goals will be the same. As a result, a golf pro school that gave your friend exactly the education she needed might not be as good a choice for you. When choosing a golf pro school, be sure to consider how the school relates to your unique needs, such as:

Does the school’s curriculum support your chosen career? The golf industry actually varies rather widely, including everything from the obvious jobs such as professional golf and golf instruction, to less known positions such as golf course management, business management, and more. While what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, the same does not necessarily apply in golf. A pro golfer requires a different education than a golf equipment designer or a resort manager, for example.

In short, a pro golf school needs to teach you what you need to know in order to prepare you for your chosen career. When researching schools, look over the classes offered and be sure that they will satisfy your needs. No matter how acclaimed a school is, if it doesn’t teach you what you need to know, it won’t do YOU any good.

Do the school’s instructors have experience in your chosen career? Most respectable golf schools require their instructors to have not only an education, but also sufficient experience in the industry. However, this experience may vary quite widely from teacher to teacher. How thoroughly do you think Tiger Woods could school students on golf course management or club design? Likewise, is an instructor whose experience has been focused on landscaping and golf course maintenance really going to be able to teach you how to perfect your swing?

You wouldn’t expect a math teacher to teach you how to write a story, or an English teacher to teach you how to use a microscope. The same common sense should apply when considering golf schools. Your best bet is to attend a pro golf school where you can study under teachers who have experience in your chosen career.

Is the school’s location convenient? Location is a huge consideration when choosing a pro golf school. Although you may know of an excellent golf school on the East Coast, it may not be feasible for you to attend if you live in California.

Of course, many people can and do relocate for the sake of their education. However, this is not an option for everyone, as many people have jobs, families, and lives to attend to, preventing them from simply picking up and moving. If you know you cannot relocate to attend a golf pro school, be sure to only look at schools with a reasonable commute.

Can you afford to attend the school? Unfortunately, for many of us money is a major factor when pursuing an education. Scholarships and financial aid can help to take the edge off, but even so, most people will not be able to make a decision without considering cost. It may help to decide beforehand how much you can afford to pay out-of-pocket for your education, or how much you are willing to accumulate on student loans. Once you have decided on a figure, be sure to only consider schools that will stay within this range.

There are many things to consider when you are thinking about attending a golf pro school. There are obviously many factors to take into consideration that separate the good schools from the mediocre or poor schools: factors such as equipment quality, instructor requirements, and the quality of student support services. However, there are many high-ranking schools, and every one will offer its students a slightly different experience. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind your career goals and other personal needs when you are choosing a golf pro school.
