free golf putting tips

Golf swing tips are now almost everywhere. On the tv, surfing the internet, or in your favority magazine you can find a free golf tip from someone. Not to mention your pals who are ready to offer you a free golf swing tip whenever you are looking for one. Online golf tips are quickly becoming the information source of choice for golfers, the information age has made it easier then ever to get the answer.

So the question we need to ask ourselves is, does a free golf swing tip give us the help we need or send us on a wild goose chase? If you spend some time researching you’ll find that some free golf swing tips are better left alone. Because not all free tips are created equal some professionals and instructors suggest it’s best for golfers to just ignore any free swing tips.

You should evaluate what the free golf swing tip is asking you to do. For instance a tip telling you to swing at the ball with all your strength is seriously incorrect.

Some golfers are seen doing just that how ever, attacking the ball with such strength it’s almost impossible they won’t injure themselves at the same. Another improper tip is to twist over the wrists in an effort to increase the club head speed right before contact is made with the ball. Like the last free golf swing tip mentioned twisting of the wrists is likely to cause injury as well.

The right free golf swing tip will help develop the correct exercises and techniques that condition the golfers body to do the work rather then just b. A genuine free golf swing tip should increase strength in the golf muscles, leading to better results.

Particular free golf swing tips will help build more strength and power in your swing, helping you play a better game over time. Any free golf swing tip that emphasizes this point is bound to be genuine and may have a positive effect on your golf swing.

One thing that free golf swing tips do, is help the golfer thing more about your swing mechanics rather then just focusing on driving the ball hundreds of yards into the fairway, or dropping it in the cup on the green.

Of course it’s difficult to know if the person supplying you with the free golf swing tips is a genuine instructor or pro. Of course there is no better way to determine this then to use your own judgment before you begin to learn a new technique or practice a new drill. Everyone has an opinion on how a proper golf swing should be done, as well as what technique or drill you should be practicing to increase your drive.

golf training aids chipping

The 18th hole is a lengthy par 4 with a tricky elevated green. You’ve missed the green to the right on your approach. Your ball sits about 8 feet off the green in the first cut of rough. The lie isn’t too bad, but it’s a tricky shot.

The left-side pin is about 25 yards away and there is a tricky downhill slope leading to a bunker right behind the target. Unfortunately, your opponent and nemesis is in decent shape with a slick 20 footer for birdie.

Whoever wins the hole wins the round, bragging rights, and 5 skins. If you can chip this one close or somehow get it to drop, you can turn the tables and put the pressure on him. Of course, chip it a little too hard and it’s going down in the bunker along with your chances of getting those desperately needed bragging rights.

Are your chipping skills up to the challenge? Moments of reckoning like this come along pretty often in golf. It’s the times when you wonder is your game good enough to pull you through. On tough courses, under pressure, many of these moments come down to hitting a good chip shot.

If your chipping is not the best aspect of your game, consider adding a golf training aid to your practice routine. Golf training aids can help you maximize your results, especially when you have limited time available to practice. Here are some tips to help you find golf training aids for chipping that won’t waste your time:

1. Practice at home! You really can improve your chipping in your yard if you practice. If you are pressed for time, this is a great way to keep your short game sharp. Suggested training aids: a small chipping net for a target, and a mat to keep your lawn from looking like Swiss cheese.

Step off 2, 5, 10, 15, and 20 yards, putting a target at each one. To start, chip 10 shots at each target to get a feel for each distance. Then, when you feel confident that you have the feel, Chip one ball to each target to simulate on-course conditions. During a real round you only have one try to get it right!

2. Get a golf training aid that is some sort of wedge with a lengthened shaft, about 1 foot longer than normal. The long shaft will help you keep your wrist firm through the ball. This helps a lot with your consistency. Follow whatever exercises come with the golf training aid. It’s fairly simple but you have to practice.

3. Tempo is just as important in chipping as it is during the full swing. Get an adjustable golf metronome and use it to get a good rhythm for your chipping stroke. Also practice your pre-chip routine because rhythm in your routine is very important in pressure situations.

4. Get a short game DVD! Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter, Hank Haney, etc. All these guys know tons of stuff about the short game that can be very helpful to the average golfer.

Good luck and chip away at your handicap!

golf tips chipping

In golf, chipping is probably one of the more – less glamorous shots that you come in contact with on a regular basis yet it is one of the most important areas of competency when it comes to shaving strokes off your game.

You’ll struggle mightily to find a lower handicap golfer that isn’t a good chipper of the golf ball. It’s curious irony to me when I see and work with mid to higher handicappers that spend so little time on improving their merit around the greens. If this description fits you, think about it for a moment… by definition higher handicap golfers are not going to hit the greens as often and as such they are going to leave themselves with chip shots much more often. So why not spend some time getting better at chipping and immediately start taking strokes off your game.

I can tell you unequivocally, that if you are a higher handicap golfer, spending some time to improve you chipping skills will save you at least one to two strokes per hole… now that’s some serious scoring… wouldn’t you agree?

Much of chipping around the green is confidence and with practice your confidence will improve along with your chipping so it has a snowballing effect.

Let’s take a look at a few elements of chipping that will get you going in the right direction and on you way to lowering your golf score.

First of all, select the right tool for the job. One problem or mind set that many get in to is that; if I’m around the green and am going to chip … I use my pitching or sand wedge. If this is you, I want you to learn to select the proper club for the shot that is required.

Actually let me back up slightly… first evaluate the shot and where you want the ball to land… then get the club out that is going to do that job best for you. These first two items are your approach the chip shot that you have in front of you.

If you’re not sure about what club imparts what type of behavior on the golf ball, just try different clubs and shots around the practice green… work to get comfortable with several different clubs and approaches to your chipping.

The physical aspects of chipping are very straight forward.

You want to keep your hands slightly ahead of the clubhead… both in your set up and as your hands and club pass through the impact zone.

Press your weigh slightly forward during your set up and keep your weight pressed slightly forward throughout your chipping motion.

Use a one piece take-a-way and motion. This is a biggie with higher handicappers… they tend to get ‘flippie’ with their hands. When this happens the tendency is for the club head to begin to accelerate past the hands (a bad thing) and the result is the club either ‘chunks’ behind the ball or you hit the dreaded blade shot clear across the green.

Never decelerate the club as you come into the hitting zone. Confidence plays a big part in this for people who aren’t good chippers. In order to get yourself to consistently accelerate through the shot; when you are practicing, initially don’t worry so much about a precise target and if you are going fly the ball too far past. Just work on a smooth chipping motion making good contact each and every time. We’ll work on distance control once you master the motion.

I’ve gotten a bit long here and I still want to cover a bit more on the swing, club selection for you, as well as some drills; but for now, just get yourself out there and work on these few basics and making good consistent contact and I’ll be back with soon and we will continue our work on lower your score by getting the ball much closer to the hole with your chipping game.

Until next time… remember – practice makes permanent.

What can I do to improve my game?

Shot from a course when 77-83. My Heritage High are long and straight off the tee and the ability to to shape shots with my irons (fade, draw, punch, LOB). However, my short game is very up and down. Some days I may have less than 30 putts and I'll more than 36 years, Any tips on how to improve my short game, especially late chipping and putting.

Use all the shoulders and the pendulum to the strip or green. For all short game shots of pitches to putts, keep your wrist relaxed but as if locked. This will greatly improve consistency. I use the triangle (keeping arms in the same position all the time and the use of rotation and shoulders) to the short game and all my shots actually, but not really necessary and not disturb his party. Another tip for long putts great last minute: reading the green and then usually in the angles of the breaks (the tangent to the curve) for you can see all the way to the hole. I am a 3 handicap by the way, the dolls are the best option, with emphasis placed pendulum.

golf training aids chipping

Many players just play for fun and relaxation while others take the game seriously. Regardless of the reason for playing, a golfer is not likely they have so much fun when your game does not correspond to expectations for many are continuously trying to improve their golfing skills. Many golfers have a great campaign, but suffer with their putting techniques and improving this skill can indeed improve the entire game. While golf is often considered as one of the simplest golf shots, it is often the biggest problems for many golfers. In order to improve their golf skills training is important for a golfer to understand the physics of putting, swing, body movement and distance control. It is the purpose of this article to discuss the issues raised in the hope that understanding will lead to better golf game.

Golf is said by firing some, the only one who can run flawlessly, but it's more than just a straight shot target successfully. In short, it's just a set of skills to both individual and launch or chipping, but until you get the skills in place, the setting can be a thing very frustrating. Putting is an individualist time that requires patience, repetition and perfect practice. While many golfers reject the idea of practice is evident that golfers will actually improve your skills and implementation. Although the practice is important for a golfer to learn to repeat the same coherent, but it is important that proper technique is being followed. The first step is to control your swing.

In golf, everything begins and ends with your swing and while you do not have to understand all the intricacies of the golf swing to play well, no doubt will help. Most beginning golfers do not realize the skill and technique how much will a golf swing itself and while many golfers practice a lot, never reach the swing they want. In general, the correct golf swing is a set of movements complex body that require precise coordination of the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, torso, hips, legs and knees of the golfer. The draw golf swing requires the golf club through a long distance move with proper technique and timing. Think of your career to the pendulum of a clock pendulum, oscillating in a uniform and at a constant rate. Once you have perfected your swing that still need to learn about motion control.

The optimal technique depends on the integration setting the orientation to control movement. In golf, putting is a fine motor skill that requires two movements, a rise and a swing forward and any movement your body will make the putt off line so I always want minimal movement while laying. One of the bad habits related to golf is that players tend to raise their heads over a putt to see if a ball will go in the hole. The head movement can greatly reduces the precision of the race start. To correct this problem, we must use the correct tracking of the implementation of the ball with your eyes moving faster than the head until the ball reaches a certain distance and then the head motion closes the gap and head orientation is matched with address of sight. Once you have mastered the movement of the body is the time to work on distance control.

Remote control seems to be a big problem for the beginning of putters, because to get a sense of distance is one of the most difficult aspects of golf to master. Putting distance control is achieved by uniform rotation. The art of golf putting requires a visualization of the slope and the grain of the green and an idea of the distance of the putt and stroked the blow with the right amount of force implies an idea of the distance. Golf In training, the feel and distance control are achieved by striking the ball in the center of time of each putter. A good way to judge the distance before the start is to walk to the center of the putt to view the actual distance.

While golf is a sport that never perfect and a set of golfers may fluctuate depending on various circumstances, it is possible to become more consistent with practice. As discussed above, when a player can improve their ability to put his overall game will improve. Another option to improve their game and putting skills is through the use of a golf training aid, as RefinerGolf swing coach. Regardless of which method uses the term practice makes perfect is really true. Happy golfing.

golf instructions chipping

Have you ever taken a golf lesson? Surely you have gotten a golf tip. What do you remember of that lesson or that tip? Golf is a funny game; you can hear a great tip and put it to work for a few days, or even a few weeks, but then it is gone. It is gone and you are back to floundering all over again. I have learned not to pay too much attention to golf tips, but I got some very good golf advice once and I would like to share it with you.

I have had a lot of golf instruction in my life and most of it is of minimal efficacy. What I am about to say is going to sound radical, but I think that golf pros spend too much time on golf technique and not enough on golf art! Who teaches the art of golf anymore? Have you been to an instructor today? They put sensors all over your body and film you from two sides and then measure angles such as degree of hip turn, shoulder turn, knee flex, and on and on. I know that teaching the swing has value, but come on; the golf swing is not that hard. No one ever taught me to swing a baseball bat (well I was shown a few times), and yet I had a stellar high school career. No, today more than ever we need to learn the art of the game. We need to learn how to play golf not what to do. Just like baseball they taught us how to cover your position and how to run the bases, we in golf need to learn how to play the course.

I used to play regularly with a fellow who always shot 80 or 81. His best rounds were 77 or 78, but his bad rounds were never higher than 84 or 85. If you bet his score before the round, you would do best to guess 80 or 81. This guy was Mr. Steady; his scores did not deviate much at all. What was this all about, I wondered; how is he so consistent and the rest of us so up and down? Some of you might think that of course he is consistent, he shoots 80! Well, 80 isn’t that hot, I mean it is good, but lots of players are better than that, but few more consistent. So I analyzed his game and something stuck out to me, like a sore thumb.

This guy, let’s call him Rodney (since that is his name), was a most consistent player, because he intimately knew his limitations. Early on when I was playing with him, I always thought it odd that every time he hit it in the trees; he would chip it back to the fairway. Don’t get me wrong, I am not talking deep in the woods, I am talking in the trees, with a shot you could easily hook or fade out of and gain substantial yardage. He was a pretty straight hitter, so he never got too deeply into trouble, but when he was there, he took the absolutely safest route out. I mean come on, this was a good player a guy that shot many rounds in the 70’s, he knew how to fade and hook the ball. But that is not how he played, he knew he was a good enough player he could chip out, hit the next shot on the green and make a par or bogey. On par threes he would always take plenty of club, rarely missing the green short. Off the tee he would hit the fairway, using an iron if need be. He was a great chipper, because he played safe chips, not too many flops or risky stuff, chip and run if at all possible. A boring, boring player, but a partner you could count on not to take a big number.

I think that whether you are a 25 or a 5 handicapper, you need to learn to play golf. Rodney has fun playing boring golf and you will too. Low scores and winning never get old; instead lower scores make the game so much more enjoyable. Have you been there in the grill room, when one of the guys says, “you won’t believe the shot I hit from the woods on 13 today” and the first remark is “yeah, but what did you shoot?” Learn to play golf; it is an art not a science.

It’s important to remember that your golf swing is what drives your score; it’s not your golf clubs or ball. If you’re like most golfers, you desperately want to improve your game, not just hack around the golf course willy-nilly. Still many golfers do play golf just to hack around and have some fun but the more avid players are always looking for ways to improve their golf swing and their overall game.

First of all keep the good positive energy flowing and don’t give in to any negative thoughts. Don’t worry about what others say about your swing; work to improve it at your own speed. A common mental error golfers make when driving the golf ball is to hit it as hard as they can. Understanding the golf swing is one of the first steps you can take toward improvement.

The back swing is a simple rotation to the right, consisting of a shift in the player’s body weight to the right side, a turn of the pelvis and shoulders, a lift of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists. The most important thing to remember about the golf swing is the angle, not the strength that’s applied to it, which is one of many of the secrets to a great swing. Have a little faith in your golf club to do the job it was intended to do.

Swing slowly and steadily using good rhythm and biomechanics. Sidespin happens when the clubface is not properly aligned perpendicularly to the plane of the swing. Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the ‘yips’ has affected not only amateurs but many golf professionals. Get expert advice from the pros and consider a golf swing trainer.

Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to steer the ball around obstacles or they head toward the safe side of fairways and greens. Putts and short chips are ideally played without much movement of the body, but almost all of the other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing. Many golfers who are left-handed prefer the right-handed swing.

When you swing, use the large muscles in your legs and trunk and if you have problems with your left knee buckling imagine holding a volleyball between your knees.

Many golfers should exercise but don’t. Do turn to golf exercises if you want more strength and power. Workouts with straight crunches will not improve your swing or driving distance though. Instead concentrate on weighted rotational exercises. The proper swing is mostly rotational so it really makes sense to concentrate on your turning ability as it relates to the range of motion and speed. Try using a weighted club so you can make rotational swings to improve your power.

Overall, investing in golf trainers or aids will greatly improve your swing and your game, many say. But it may or may not work for you. If you’re looking for an aid to improve your stance they’re easy enough to find. There are lots of good aids on the market today.

Golf swing trainers and aids can often be found online and are often much cheaper. They are often available for sale at most pro shops or local golf shops. There are a wide range of aids and golf analyzers on the market today to help the beginning and advanced golfer improve swing techniques.

There are aids that’ll help you with your swing alignment. Make sure to look for golf swing trainer reviews and ratings online or offline for any you’re considering. In any case, stick to just one aid at a time.

Now get out on the driving range with all your custom golf clubs, golf bag and other equipment as often as you can. Buy some golf videos or DVDs and some golf swing software if you’re so inclined and commit yourself to a time to practice what you’re learning. There are hundreds of free and simple golf tips in consumer and sports magazines, in golf books, ebooks, software and DVDs online and offline. Finally it’s important to just try to relax and enjoy the game. Practice, practice, practice and you’ll get the perfect, super golf swing!
