I'm planning a honeymoon in Maui and I need help, please?
My boyfriend and I are going to spend our honeymoon in Maui from late September – early October. One of our wedding gifts is a week long stay in the moment of my aunt action (honorable kao). We have to determine exactly how much to save for honeymoon. We are planning to buy food and grilling at the time to share most of the time, but we also want to go to restaurants, a luau, to the best of golf, go to some shows, get massages with hot stones, go jet skiing, go on a submarine, and other excursions. We have car rental price. So my questions are: How are the food prices in relation to the continental states (we live in Flagstaff, AZ)? Does anyone have any information specific price on any of the above activities? Are you aware of PF hidden fees related to any of the above? Is it the car rent in all practices of different U.S. Continental? Do you have any specific recommendations of things / places not to miss while there?
We went to Oahu and Maui do not (and in June 2006, so take this into account when pricing below me), but I would think that prices and practices are almost the same in all the islands … Food in grocery stores was a little more expensive than at home (we're in the Chicago area), but not too bad … Like a dozen of eggs was $ 3-ish, maybe ISH gallon of milk $ 4 -… gas for your rental car is slightly more expensive than the mainland perhaps 20 cents / gallon … Restaurants were slightly more expensive but if you do the "prime tourist" places and go for more than a local flavor, not too horrible … The car rental place work as any in the continent, nothing different there. They also gave us a booklet on arrival with all the material to local tourism as luaus and sports watersports, day trips and shows, and most came with coupons … We stayed a week and out of our accommodation and car, probably spent $ 700 in tourism and grocery stores … According to what you want to do, of course, you can easily spend more. We had a mountain hike (only a few dollars to climb Diamond Head) and a luau (this was about $ 100-150 for both, but it was a blast and all you can eat) and was Pearl Harbor tour (maybe $ 25 for both) and only a few tourist gift shop in general … Went for a long walk on some trails (free), where we many great pictures … And of course, spend time at the beach is free. Enjoy! I wish I could go back …
